Student Policies

Our policies are intended to create a respectful, supportive learning environment for everyone who studies within the Usui Reiki International Gakkai. They help establish clear expectations while preserving the spirit of sincerity, discipline, and mutual respect that guides our community.

Admissions

Admission to the Gakkai is based on mutual suitability rather than open enrollment.

Prospective students begin by submitting an inquiry and participating in a brief conversation with the teacher. This allows both the applicant and the Gakkai to determine whether the course is an appropriate fit.

Completion of an inquiry does not guarantee admission.

Attendance & Participation

The twelve-week course structure is intentionally progressive, with each session building upon the previous one.

Students are expected to attend regularly, participate respectfully, and notify the teacher as early as possible if circumstances prevent attendance.

When appropriate, reasonable opportunities to review missed material may be offered at the teacher’s discretion.

Personal Practice

Learning continues between class meetings.

Students are encouraged to maintain a regular personal practice throughout the course and to approach the teachings with patience, consistency, and thoughtful reflection.

Progress develops through sustained engagement rather than speed.

Community Conduct

The Gakkai seeks to cultivate an environment characterized by mutual respect, humility, confidentiality, and kindness.

Students are expected to contribute positively to the learning environment and to respect differing experiences and perspectives.

Harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior is inconsistent with the values of the Gakkai and may result in dismissal from the course.

Privacy & Confidentiality

Personal experiences shared during classes or community gatherings should remain confidential unless explicit permission has been given to share them elsewhere.

Respecting the privacy of fellow practitioners is an important part of maintaining trust within the Sangha.

Tuition & Refund Policy

Course tuition, payment schedules, and refund policies will be provided during the admissions process before enrollment is confirmed.

If a student chooses not to continue before the course begins, refunds will be handled according to the published enrollment agreement.

Once instruction has begun, refunds may be limited due to the small-group nature of the courses. For further detail, please refer to our Refund Policy.

Photography & Recording

Photography, audio recording, and video recording are not permitted during classes or practice sessions unless expressly authorized by the teacher.

Occasionally, photographs may be taken for organizational purposes with the prior knowledge and consent of those present.

Communication

The Gakkai communicates primarily by email regarding course schedules, practice opportunities, and community events.

Students are encouraged to maintain current contact information to ensure they receive important updates.

Health & Wellbeing

Students are encouraged to care for their physical and emotional wellbeing throughout their studies.

Participation in educational activities does not replace appropriate medical or mental health care, and students should continue to consult qualified healthcare professionals whenever needed.

Policy Updates

As the Gakkai grows, these policies may be refined to better serve the needs of students and the organization while remaining faithful to its educational mission.

Every policy exists to support a respectful learning environment where students may engage deeply with the practice of Usui Reiki Ryōhō through careful instruction, sincere study, and mutual support.
